About Sandboxels Studio

Sandboxels Studio is a free, in-browser falling-sand sandbox where every pixel obeys real physics. Drop a single grain of sand, a drop of magma or a spark of electricity and watch hundreds of sandboxels materials react in real time — no installation, no signup, no limits.

With over 500 unique sandboxels elements, the simulator threads together heat transfer, electricity, density, chemistry, ecology and cooking into one cohesive playground. Build a working circuit, grow a forest, brew an explosion — the possibilities are emergent and endless.

A falling-sand game is a genre of cellular sandbox where each pixel is a tiny actor following its own rules. Sandboxels Studio pushes this idea further with deep material interactions, modding support and modern UX.

Pick a category (such as Liquids), choose an element (such as Water), then click or tap the canvas above to place your sandboxels. Mix, heat, freeze and shock them to discover thousands of hidden reactions.

Sandboxels Studio has wide applications in education. With hands-on, visual feedback, students can build an intuitive understanding of emergent phenomena across biology, chemistry, ecology, geology, food science and even virology.

Want to extend the game? Browse the curated mod library or write your own — the modding API is open and well documented.
